The Tourism Ministry of Andhra Pradesh has roped in IL&FS (Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd) to promote tourism and identify tourism packages and opportunities to be developed through public-private partnership.

Ms Chitra Ramachandran, Secretary (Tourism) and Mr D.K. Mittal, Managing Director of IL&FS, have signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard.

Commenting on the pact, Ms Ramachandran said the company had good experience in implementing several projects in areas like roads, water and sanitation, tourism and industrial parks across the country.

Dr J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for Tourism, Major Industries and Sugar, asked IL&FS to develop tourism packages that can be taken up in the private sector. She also wanted the company to study the feasibility of launching sea cruises, with Visakhapatnam as a base.
