Sewage works: YSR for pooling bank resources

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Nov. 1

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked officials of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department to talk to banks and enter into tie-ups with them to complete the Rs 2,000-crore sewerage master plan.

Reviewing the activities of the Metro Water Works and Sewerage Board here on Wednesday, he said they should ensure pooling of financial resources in the next two months, before starting the works.

He directed the officials to prepare the plan in such a way that it should be completed in three years. The plan would include the Rs 800-crore component the Chief Minister announced for underground sewerage works for the Old City recently.

He asked Mr S.P. Singh, Secretary of the department, to prepare a detailed action programme of the comprehensive development of the Old City.
