Some of the areas covered in the event would include mineral resources, water resources, natural hazards, nano technology, biotechnology, agriculture and bio resources.

Briefing presspersons here on the event, he said that ISC would host technical sessions, lectures and panel discussions on topics such as environment protection and energy security besides having stalls and exhibitions showcasing the latest research work in government and private sectors.

The event will also have a separate section called `Children's Science Congress', to be inaugurated by the President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, where school students will be allowed to interact with experts, listen to lectures and visit stalls.

Over 6,000 scientists, 10,000 business visitors and over two lakh general visitors are expected to participate in the event, said Dr Gupta.
