UK bullish on S. Indian ventures

The UK would be reinforcing its commitment to South India both in terms of visas and travel as well as with respect to the commercial relationship between the two regions, according to Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.

Prince Andrew who is also UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, cited the case of MIRA, a British engineering consultancy organisation, which is looking at forming partnerships with the automotive sector in the South Indian region.

He was in Chennai to inaugurate the new British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) office.

Mr John Wood, Managing Director, MIRA - UK, who was present at the gathering, said that the company would look to begin research on the kind of vehicle that is suitable for this market place. The company held a technical seminar for the business community at the BDHC here on Thursday.
