Rubber Spot rubber softens Aravindan
Kottayam , Nov. 2 Rubber prices softened further on Thursday. The market fell amidst low volumes due to lingering supply concerns. The trend of the day was ridden mainly by weak global futures and the ongoing lorry strike to protest against imposing the speed control. RSS 4 moved down to Rs 90.00 and Rs 90.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 91.00 a kg on Wednesday. Covering groups were buyers at lower rates but they refused to enhance their quotations.
Futures steady
The rubber futures closed almost steady on short covering at lower levels. The last traded price for November contract was Rs 88.30 (Rs 88.14), December Rs 82.51 (Rs 82.42), January Rs 82.50 (Rs 82.42) and February Rs 84.50 (Rs 84.69) per kg for RSS 4 on NMCE. Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: 90 (91); RSS-5: 88 (88); ungraded: Rs 83.50 (Rs 84); ISNR 20: Rs 87 (Rs 87.50) and latex 60 per cent: 61.05 (61.05).
