Subhiksha to enter North

Subhiksha, the Chennai-based supermarket chain, plans to enter the markets of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana in the next two months.

According to Mr R. Subramanian, Managing Director, Subhiksha Trading Services, the company has so far opened 54 outlets in Andhra Pradesh and it has planned 80 stores for the State with an outlay of Rs 40 crore. "The remaining stores will be opened by December end," he said. In the last six weeks, it opened nine stores on an average a week in cities such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Guntur and Kakinada.
