Stanza unveils new collection

Mumbai, Nov. 7

Stanza, the apparel division of Pokarna Ltd, launched its new collection at the Lakme Fashion Week held last week. The collection, designed for the upcoming wedding season and Summer `07, features shirts that vary from dramatic prints to a range of whites, while the trousers range from formals in polywool to casuals in cotton and linen."Our show went off very well," said Stanza's owner Mr Gautam Chand Jain. Stanza, launched in 2004, participated in Lakme Fashion Week for the first time this year and was the only menswear brand in the show. The brand is made up of three clothing lines: Linea Classica, Linea Moda and Linea Sport, but the company plans to add a fourth line to its stable. "We will shortly be launching a premium line - Linea Luxury - comparable to anything in the world in terms of quality and pricing," Mr Jain said.

Mr Jain plans to eventually turn Stanza into a complete lifestyle brand for men, but for now he is focused on the exclusive retailing of Stanza garments. Stand-alone stores are expected to open in Chandigarh and Secunderabad in November. In December, the Pune store will be unveiled and Surat and Ahmedabad are the targets for January and February, with Bangalore slated for March.

Stanza currently exports 45 per cent of its production and expects that level to remain steady for the foreseeable future. Mr Jain has succeeded in selling the Stanza brand in New York City.
