Move comes after talks for merger fell through

New Delhi , Nov. 14

After failing to increase its equity holding in Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd (HTIL), the Egypt-based Orascom Telecom Holding has indicated that it may dilute its minority stake in HTIL.

Orascom, which has nearly 23 per cent stake in HTIL, earlier said that it wanted to acquire 100 per cent stake in HTIL in order to increase its presence in markets such as India.

The deal with HTIL had got Orascom a 10-per cent stake in the Indian cellular venture Hutchison Essar.
