Mumbai , Nov. 15 Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has been awarded the best performer in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) marketing category for the year 2005-06, among all the public sector oil companies. Mr Murli Deora, Petroleum Minister, presented the award to Mr Ashok Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director of BPCL. BPCL has more than 22 million domestic customers, which are supported through a network of 2,600 LPG distributors and 47 bottling plants. To reach the customers across all the section of the society, BPCL has started several initiatives like rural marketing vehicles, auto LPG dispensing station and piped LPG for major cities. Last year, BPCL had signed an agreement with GAIL for the formation of separate joint venture companies for implementation of city gas projects in Kerala and Karnataka for supply of piped natural gas to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers and compressed natural gas and auto LPG for automobile customers.
