AP CM to discuss BHPV issue with Centre

The merger or takeover of the BHPV, Visakhapatnam, will be taken up with the Centre by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office, Dr Reddy would meet the Union Minister for Heavy Industries in New Delhi soon and discuss the takeover by BHEL or other major industry.

The State Government, in the meanwhile, was ready to put the land cost, which works out to around Rs 200 crore, as its equity in case of its takeover by BHEL or any other suitable industry, the release said.

STAFF WELFARE

The Chief Minister said the security of jobs and welfare of the employees and sustainability of the company was the main concern of the Government.

He enquired about the current performance with the Managing Director of BHPV. The BHPV has already been referred to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR).

The Managing Director of BHPV, Mr Omprakash, Special Chief Secretary Revenue, Mr V.P. Jauhari, Secretary Industries, Ms Y. Srilakshmi, labour leader, Mr P. Janardhan Reddy, and other company representatives took part in the discussions in Hyderabad on Friday.
