Farm meet to focus on global scenario

Kochi, Nov. 17

A national seminar is being organised on "Institutional Interventions in Agricultural Trade and Marketing" by the Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur, during November 23-24.

The seminar, which is being organised by the College of Cooperative Banking and Management, would address questions on the possible interventions in the form of value additions, accessing global markets and expanding domestic markets by commodity boards and farmers' organisations.

The seminar will also explore the advent of futures trading in most agricultural commodities and assess how far the national and regional commodity exchanges have helped the farmers and traders in better price discovery and risk management. Officials from various commodity boards and exchanges are expected to participate in the seminar.
