RBI staff to take part in strike on Dec 14

Kolkata , Nov. 20

The Reserve Bank of India employees all over the country will participate in the nationwide strike called by central trade unions on December 14, according to Mr Samir Ghosh, General Secretary of All India Reserve Bank Employees' Association (AIRBEA), which is supporting the strike.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Mr Ghosh said that the RBI employees had launched programmes opposing the central bank's bid to outsource jobs by disengaging itself from some of its very critical functions and to downsize the organisation by refraining from filling up a large number of vacancies caused by superannuation over the past few years.

"AIRBEA therefore has called upon its members to make a common cause with the democratic demands raised by the central trade unions in support of the proposed strike on December 14 and participate in it," Mr Ghosh said.
