Airlines Marketing - Strategy More legroom in Singapore Airlines flights Our Bureau
Chennai , Nov. 22 Singapore Airlines has invested $360 million to develop a suite of cabin products for premium air travel on its long-haul flights. The new suite of cabin products is not available on flights to India. Indian passengers transiting Singapore can experience these products. The seats in all three classes will be more spacious and there will also be more legroom. The first class will have only eight seats and each seat will have a width of 35 inches. There will be a 23-inch LCD screen with a business plan equipped with USB port and in-seat power supply. In the business class, the seats will be 50 per cent wider than the competition. The other features include a 15.4-inch LCD monitor, USB ports and in-seat power. Mr Foo Chai Woo, General Manager, India, Singapore Airlines said that the launch of these products was after research undertaken by the airline for four years. The new cabin products are timed to coincide with the airlines' expansion plan that will see Boeing 777-300 (extended range) and the Airbus 380 join the fleet. Mr Foo said that India was a key market for the airline and Singapore Airlines operates 47 flights to eight Indian cities. He said that the airline was looking for more opportunities to operate more flights to India.
