Kochi Nov. 23
Space Hospitals has tied up with Amrita Institute of Medical Science to cater to the growing medical requirements of Kerala and for providing telemedicine services. Space Hospitals has plans to extend such network facilities across India.
As part of its telemedicine extension project, Space Hospitals has taken the initiative to work across multiple hospitals, connect them to rural India and offer the facilities of specialist doctors from the urban centres.
Studies have shown that up to 50 per cent of the deaths reported from rural medical facilities were exacerbated by the lack of specialists for treatment, and the resulting delays in care, Space Hospitals has said.
COORINATION
As per the model developed by Space Hospitals, a doctor in a rural area can share medical information with a specialist in order to improve the transparency and accuracy of the diagnosis through the telemedicine network.
According to an NCAER study, 620 million people live in rural India and the bed-population ratio is today at 1:1333 as against an ideal of 1:500. Also, as against a two million hospital bed requirement, the availability is just 0.7 million.
