Choice Hotels India set to add more properties

Choice Hotels India, the company which manages and franchises hotel brands such as Quality Inn and Comfort, is set to add more hotel properties to its network.

Mr Vilas Pawar, CEO, Choice Hotels India said that the company plans to sign up a hotel property on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) as Quality Inn. This property would be ready by June 2007, he said.

It would also be introducing its upscale brand `Clarion' on the OMR in a year's time. Clarion will also be present in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Ludhiana and Chandhigarh.

The company currently has 30 hotels in its portfolio, 50 per cent of which are also managed by Choice Hotels. Mr Pawar said that there are about 11 hotels in various stages of development across the country, which will also be a part of the network.

The total investment towards developing the hotels is about Rs 750 crore, he said.

Choice Hotels International markets more than 5,000 hotels in more than 40 countries under the brand names Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Clarion, Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn. It launched its brand, Cambria Suites, in January 2005.
