Sarda bail plea rejected again

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata, Nov. 30

A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court, headed by Mr Justice D.P. Sengupta and Mr Justice R.N. Banerjee, on Thursday rejected the bail prayer of Govind Sarda, prime suspect in the case pertaining to supply of defective blood test kits. Sarda is in custody for 63 days now.

On November 1, 2006, Sarda moved the bail petition in the High Court, which was rejected. The next date of hearing in the Trial Court has been fixed as December 7, 2006. Monozyme India Ltd is the supplier of the blood test kits.

Following an FIR filed by two executives alleging that the kits were defective, causing a health hazard to people at large, the police started the investigation and arrested Govind Sarda and two others.
