KSIDC staff on warpath

Thiruvananthapuram , Dec. 4

The employees of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) have threatened to resort to various modes of agitation on the issue of pay revision.

The KSIDC Employees Association observed `protest day' on Monday demanding retrospective effect to the pay revision announced by the Government.

The leaders of the association said that the Government had issued an order revising the pay-scales with effect from April 1, 2006, against the due date of March 1, 2003.

They pointed out that the last pay revision for the officers of the corporation was implemented in 1998 for a period of five years, which expired on February 28, 2003. But as per the Government order, the pay revision takes effect only from April 1, 2006, instead of March 1, 2006.

`UNJUSTIFIABLE'

The Government's action is `unjustifiable' considering that KSIDC is ranked fourth among the 38 profit-making public sector undertakings in the State and been consistently making profits for the last 10 years.

The leaders warned that the association would resort to other measures such as strike or go-slow if the problem was not addressed urgently.
