Fab policy: State's plea to PM

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, requesting for early announcement of semiconductor policy.
Reiterating the State demand for semiconductor policy to make fab units financially viable and bankable, Dr Reddy in the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister has said the State has created the necessary infrastructure for fab units and has allotted about 5,000 acres that can house up to 10 fab facilities.
However, to ensure that there fab units like the Nano Tech Solutions, with a capital outlay of $350 million, do not delay their projects or possibly divert them to other locations, he urged the Centre to extend necessary incentive package to meet their requirements.
Along with these, he sought Central Government's assistance for flood and cyclone relief.
The Prime Minister was in Hyderabad participating in the Golden Jubilee function of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and the Global Logistics meet organised by the Indian School of Business, here.
