Granules pact with Dutch co PharmaMatch

To develop, manufacture and market formulations in EU markets

Hyderabad , Dec. 6

Granules India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PharmaMatch of the Netherlands, to develop, manufacture and market formulations in the European market jointly.

The arrangement would kick off with the transfer of the existing marketing authorisations by PharmaMatch to the Hyderabad-based, Granules India Ltd (GIL) for products such as paracetomol.

GIL has the basic and necessary skill sets to deliver the same, according to a press release hereon Wednesday.

New facility

The upcoming finished dosage facility of GIL with a capacity of manufacturing six billion tablets per annum in Hyderabad, expected to be commissioned and operations by May 2007, would be utilised.

Destination EU

Mr Irfan Vazirally, Executive Director, PharmaMatch India, said the company was counting on GIL's capabilities to expand their new business of finished dosages.

The GIL Managing Director, Mr C. Krishna Prasad, said the MoU could catapult Granules into the European Market. "We expect this partnership to expedite the approval process for the finished dosage facility in the European Union."

PharmaMatch, the Dutch company, has a strong customer base in the EU with relationships with all the major generic players.
