Rs 405-cr support for AIR, DD

The Government has initiated a proposal to include a Rs 405-crore north-east package for All-India Radio and Doordarshan in Eleventh Plan. Of this, Doordarshan will get Rs 380 crore. The Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr P.R. Dasmunsi, gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. He also said that five community radio stations had been set up by All-India Radio. Of these, two are in Meghalaya, two in Nagaland and one in Mizoram.
