Space Hospitals to widen services in TN

Space Hospitals Ltd, a Chennai-based telemedicine service provider, plans to add 126 telemedicine centres, 38 satellite medical centres and 9 regional associate hospitals in Tamil Nadu by the end of March 2007.
Mr A. Sivakumaran, Chief Financial Officer, Space Hospitals, said that the company which was incorporated in August 2005, planned to invest Rs 8 crore in hardware, software, medical equipment and connectivity. The funding would come from venture capital and equity from promoters.
He said Space Hospitals, which has launched its services in Kerala, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai, would soon enter Kolkata. The company plans to widen its services to remote areas by connecting more hospitals and medical centres.
In a year's time, the company plans to establish 500 satellite medical centres, 800 telemedicine centres and 40 associate hospitals. In addition to this, it plans to launch 10 mobile telemedicine units in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and three states in North India.
