Our Bureau

New Delhi , Dec. 21

The Centre may soon convene a meeting of Chief Ministers of States to get everybody on board over the issue of how the funds that have been collected under the new pension scheme (NPS) be invested.

"States that have switched over to NPS (15 to 16 States) are now requesting on how to invest the funds that they have collected", Mr P Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, told reporters here after the Cabinet meeting.

He said the proposal that would be placed before the Chief Ministers would be to invest the funds according to the non-government provident fund notification. "The proposal is not a dramatic proposal. The proposal is to invest in the same manner as today the Government allows investment in non-government provident funds. It is the same pattern that is already available today," he said.
