ICICI Lombard to tap rural rich

K.V. Kurmanath

Hyderabad , Dec. 22

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company is planning to tap the opportunities in offering insurance cover to assets in rural areas.

"Not all the rural population is poor. We are trying to cover the rural rich. We will offer products to cover their assets like farm equipment and tractors," Mr Pranav Prashad, Head of Rural and Agriculture Business Group, told Business Line.

He was in the city to attend a two-day conference on `Improving public health in India — Need for innovative solutions in healthcare delivery' here. The meet was organised by ICICI Knowledge Park.

Mr Prashad said his company was in talks with Byrraju Foundation, an NGO promoted by Satyam Computer Services, for offering insurance products in areas covered by the foundation.

It also tied up with co-operative bodies in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh to offer the healthcare products to their members.
