National Engineering Industries Ltd (NEI), part of the GP-CK Birla Group and a manufacturer of NBC bearings, has received the "Export Excellence" award in large enterprises category for highest performance in export of engineering goods and highest growth in exports from the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), eastern region.

A NEI press note says that the company has achieved 173 per cent growth in export volume between April and October 2006 against the same period in 2005. NBC bearings are exported to the US, Japan, Italy Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran and South Africa. The company has three plants in Jaipur, Newai and Manser and manufacturers 48 million bearings per annum.
