A national seminar on challenges and opportunities in the secondary steel sector is to be organised by the National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology under the Ministry of Steel and the Steel Manufacturers Association of Kerala on January 20 and 21.

The two-day seminar at Palakkad is to be inaugurated by the Governor, Mr R.L. Bhatia. The State Industry Minister, Mr Elamaram Kareem, will address the seminar. About 200 delegates, mostly from the southern States and Goa are expected to participate in the seminar, said Mr S.S. Agrawal, President, and Mr K. Pankajakshan, Secretary, of the Steel Manufacturers Association of Kerala.

Leading faculties drawn from the industry, institutions and allied fields will present papers in the seminar, covering a wide spectrum of topics. Government officials are expected to interact with industrialists about the problems faced by them.

At present, the Steel Manufacturers Association of Kerala has 55 members.
