New Union Bank branch in Madurai

Madurai, Jan. 2

The Union Bank of India opened its sixth, fully computerised branch at Narimedu in the city, here on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the branch, the District Collector, Mr T. Udhayachandran, urged the bankers to join the district administration to promote IT-related industries in and around the city and textile industries in the rural areas, in which 2,500 employment opportunities have been identified. The district administration has decided to train the personnel at Government expenditure for the purpose, he added.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chief Manager, Mr P. G. Prasanna Kumar, mentioned that the Narimedu branch was the 130th branch in the State. He added that 55 more high-tech branches are being opened throughout the country on this day, including one more branch in the State at Kadayanallur.
