Spices & Condiments Chana, maize futures decline Our Bureau
Mumbai , Jan. 2 Fresh rabi arrivals pulled down chana futures on NCDEX on Tuesday by 2.71 per cent on NCDEX to Rs 2,299 a quintal. Maize futures were also down 1.61 per cent at Rs 733 a quintal as the area under cultivation has gone up by 10 per cent to 2 lakh hectares this year. Mentha oil on MCX lost 2.80 per cent to Rs 570 per kg on lack of spot demand. Kapas and cardamon futures on MCX also lost 1.54 per cent and 1.34 per cent to Rs 378 per quintal and Rs 411 per kg respectively. NCDEX recorded a turnover of Rs 3,148 crore against Rs 2,439 crore on Friday while that on MCX was Rs 2,738.50 crore (Rs 1,013.95 crore on Friday). Wheat futures on NCDEX reversed a falling trend to gain 1.08 per cent at Rs 1,015 per quintal. "Wheat futures prices have declined from a high of Rs 1,060 per quintal and touched a low Rs 990 last Friday. Today's gain is a minor correction," said a trader. Tur futures gained 1.26 per cent to Rs 1,934 per quintal on NCDEX.
