CAB moves HC against Dalmiya ban

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata, Jan. 2

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Tuesday filed a writ petition in the Calcutta High Court, challenging the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), expelling Mr Jagmohan Dalmiya from membership of the BCCI for life. The matter is expected before Justice Mr Dipankar Dutta of the Calcutta High Court any day now.

It has been stated in the petition that the decision of the BCCI was unilateral and against the spirit of natural justice.

Being an independent body, the CAB cannot be dictated by the BCCI and its President being an elected one, the BCCI cannot expel such elected outfit without hearing him. The CAB prayed for an order staying the decision of BCCI.
