Services from the communications satellite INSAT-4A were disrupted for about half an hour on Tuesday and were restored soon, an ISRO release said. Solar disturbances reportedly caused what ISRO described as a minor glitch around 4 p.m.

The satellite was launched in December 2005 and Tata Sky has leased all 12 Ku-band transponders for its DTH operations. The 4A also supports other TV services on the C band. The satellite temporarily lost its vital Earth lock, when one of the momentum wheels that keep it stable, got switched off. Engineers at the Master Control Facility, Hassan, acted immediately, restored the Earth lock and oriented the satellite again in about 30 minutes, the release said.
