Letters Not a time-bomb
This is with reference to "Mission for 2007 Defusing long ignored time-bombs" (Business Line, January 2): Population growth in today's context is not a time bomb for India. It is rather an asset. Also, the assumption that shortage of software engineers spells doom seems misguided. This with reference to "Revitalising the farm sector" (Business Line, January 2). Slow growth in agriculture is indeed the time-bomb we are sitting on. Our progress in this sector is abysmal. The Bt cotton episode is a classic example of inefficiency, when compared to China experience ("Bt cotton and the price blight", Business Line, July 18). Taking the agriculture sector forward requires commitment and hard work. There is a drastic need for urgent reforms in this sector J. Menon Chennai
