Spices Board to introduce e-auctions for cardamom

G.K. Nair

Kochi , Jan. 3

The Spices board is likely to introduce e-auction of cardamom during the current season. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), entrusted with the task of developing a software for the purpose, has presented it before all the concerned people such as the auctioneers, traders and growers at a group discussion in Bodinayakannur on January 1, Mr S. Kannan, Director (Marketing), told Business Line.

Opinion of the traders, who would be the main participants and beneficiaries of the system, has been sought. They might have to make some investment in hardware. All these issues would be worked out in consultation, he said. It would be a screen-based trading at the auction centres replacing the age-old outcry system, he said.
