Kallada project under Central scheme

The Centre has notified the Kallada irrigation project under the Command Area Development and Water Management (CADWM) programme envisaging an outlay of Rs 77 crore in developmental expenditure.

Announcing this, the Minister for Water Resources, Mr N.K. Premachandran, said here that the Centre would advance Rs 36.75 crore as its share during the six-year period for implementation of the programme.

The Minister said he had submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister for Water Resources, Mr Saifuddin Soz, requesting his intervention in the matter at a meeting in Delhi. The CADWM developmental programme will bring an incremental 53,514 hectares in central Kerala under irrigation.
