Spot rubber declines sharply

Physical rubber prices suffered heavy loses on Saturday. Sheet rubber moved down to Rs 95.25 and Rs 96 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from to Rs 97 a kg on selling from dealers and growers.

Futures decline

The rubber futures followed suit on NMCE. The last traded price in January settled down at Rs 95.40 (Rs 96.36), February at Rs 96.50 (Rs 97.81), March at Rs 99.36 (Rs 100.15) and April at Rs 102.01 (Rs 103.02) per kg for RSS 4.The transactions totalled 3,083 (7,888) lots and open interest 9,541 (9,790) lots when the market downed the shutters at 2 PM. The January contract for RSS 4 slipped to Rs 97.10 a kg from Rs 97.85 a kg (242 lots) on MCX.

The per kg spot prices were: RSS-4: Rs 95.25 (Rs 97); RSS-5: Rs 89 (Rs 92); Ungraded: Rs 86.25 (Rs 89); ISNR 20: Rs 87 (Rs 90) and Latex 60 per cent: Rs 64.20 (Rs 66.30).
