Chennai , Jan. 8

Production at Dunlop India Ltd factory in Ambattur has not started as was expected and maintenance work continues, according to sources in the know.

Officials had said last week that maintenance work was on and they were planning to recommence production on Monday. They told Business Line that the "process is very much on and work would commence any day". Efforts were on to build up a stock of inputs and raw material to ensure sustained production. The company is going through the State Trading Corporation to procure raw materials.

The sources said over 180 workers were involved in the maintenance work. Production could commence in about a week.
