Mangalore , Jan. 12

Private bus operators in Karnataka, under the banner of Karnataka State Bus Owners' Federation, will go on a strike on January 25.

Addressing newspersons here on Friday, Mr K. Rajavarma Ballal, President of All-India Bus Operators' Confederation (AIBOC), said bus operators in the State have decided to go on a day's strike in protest against the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority's (IRDA) decision to increase the Third Party Legal Liability Motor Insurance tariff.

Stating that bus operators in 15 States have decided to take part in the strike, he said bus operators in other States would go on indefinite strike from January 25. Accordingly, over 8.5 lakh buses would stop operating their services from January 25.
