Tobacco Board gets new Chairman

Our Bureau

Guntur , Jan. 13

Mr J. Suresh Babu, Executive Director and in-charge Chairman, was elevated as the Chairman of the Tobacco Board here and he assumed charge on Saturday.

At a press meet he said the board was contemplating introduction of the electronic auction system, but the prime pre-requisite for it would be proper grading of tobacco at the farm level.

He said the board would strive for the welfare of the farmers in both the major tobacco-growing States — Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka — and there was no question of favouring one of the States at the expense of the other.

The board would strive to boost exports and help the trade, he added.
