Chennai, Jan. 19

SlashSupport, a US-based provider of outsourced technical support solutions with development centres in India, has announced a three-year contract with Nortel Networks — a telecom equipment manufacturer. Mr Shiv Ramani, CEO, SlashSupport, did not disclose the deal size. The average deal size for the company was $5-$7 million. However, the Nortel deal was "subsequently" bigger than that, he told newspersons through a videoconference from the US.

Mr Ramani said the company would hire around 250 engineers in Chennai for Nortel in the next six months. SlashSupport would provide technical support from Chennai for Nortel's voice and data products. For example, if a customer buys a Nortel product, engineers of SlashSupport would help the customer in the implementation process, he said.
