Bangalore Jan. 23 The Essel Group and Zee Kannada have selected Mr Shivanand Patil, Cong MLA from Basavana-Bagewadi, as Karnataka's Best Legislator.

Mr Patil secured the highest number of votes of nearly 100 nominations received.

Other finalists chosen included Mr Jayaprakash Hegde, Ms Motamma, Mr A.T. Ramaswamy and Mr Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri.

The public was invited to choose one among the top five finalists as Karnataka's Best Legislator through tele-voting.

Legislators who have rendered yeoman's service to the State were also felicitated.

They included Mr Mallikarjuna Kharge, Mr Dharam Singh, Mr Krishna Byre Gowda, one of the youngest members, and Mr Vatal Nagaraj, the longest serving independent member.
