CLRI's annual leather meet from tomorrow

Chennai Jan. 25 Leather Research Industry Get Together (LERIG 2007), the annual event organised by the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), will focus on benign environmental and sustainable technology for the leather sector.

At a press conference here, the CLRI's Acting Director, Mr A.B. Mondal, said the event being inaugurated at CLRI on Saturday will focus on technologies for the treatment of wastewater, saline water management, solid waste management and modernisation of treatment facilities and policy issues.

CLRI organises the event in association with the leather industry associations.

Round Table Congress

Following LERIG, another major event, Modeurop, the internationally recognised body that forecasts fashion and trends in leather for the international market is holding the next Round Table Congress here on January 30.

Mr K. Elangovan, Executive Director, Council for Leather Exports (CLE), said that the Modeurop Jury comprising 10 leading fashion experts have confirmed participation.

The round table will decide the leather colours and textures for the Spring Summer 2008 season. The event is jointly coordinated by the CLRI, CLE, India Trade Promotion Organisation, Indian Shoe Federation and Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
