Speaking on the `research experiences at Paton Welding Institute' here recently, Dr Manoharan said the joint research would focus on techniques such as magnetically impelled arc butt welding, which is a new solid state welding process that takes just two to five seconds. This technique would find good use in the country, he said. The welding simulators for training is eco-friendly, cost-effective and will reduce wastage of power, material, consumables and so on. Dr Manoharan said the new technologies would help Indian industries to enhance quality as well as productivity.
