Hyderabad Jan. 25 To give the world a taste of the famous Hyderabadi biryani, the over 30-year-old `Deccani' food chain Hyderabad House plans to go global.

It has chosen the franchisee route to expand and set up outlets in Sydney in Australia and Al-Khobar in Saudi Arabia, to start with.

The food chain is also embarking on diversification plans. It is foraying into Chinese cuisine and setting up `Bowl O' China' in Kharkhana, Secunderabad, to be inaugurated on Friday and the second one in Begumpet, Hyderabad.

Mr Mazharuddin, Managing Director, Hyderabad House, told Business Line, "We plan to start 50 more outlets of Hyderabad House spread over Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa in the coming year with an expected turnover of Rs 50-60 crore, going by our past experience."

CHINESE OUTLETS

Twenty-five more Chinese outlets are also planned to start with an expected turnover of Rs 15-20 crore, Mr Mazharudding said. All these would be through the franchisee route, he added.

"We have also got enquiries from the US, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore for setting up franchisee outlets," he said.

This chain was started by Mr Mir Baber Ali as a small canteen at the Hyderabad Race Course in 1975.

Today, it is being managed by the next generation, who are professionally trained in catering and hotel management.

It now has nine outlets in Hyderabad and one in Bangalore.
