UB net rises 38% on volume growth

Bangalore Jan. 31 Good growth in strong beer volumes has helped United Breweries post a 38 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 12.69 crore during the third quarter of 2006-07 on a total income which grew 55 per cent to Rs 190.20 crore .

A press statement from the company said its board has also announced the payment of an interim dividend of 15 per cent. The statement said the historic growth in strong beer has continued to fuel demand, with the total industry growing in volume terms by 31 per cent in the first nine months, with the strong beer alone growing at 35 per cent. In the same period, mild beer also grew around 23 per cent.
