Gujarat Feb. 1 The Adani Group-controlled port on the west coast at Mundra surpassed its cargo handling record when m.v. Vinashin Eagle, carrying bulk wheat, discharged 25,042 tonnes in a single day.

Possibly this record has not been achieved by any port in the country so far as discharge of wheat is concerned, the company said in a release.

Simultaneously, seven wheat rakes were loaded with 17,374 tonnes of wheat with the co-operation of the Indian Railways, which has been supplying the wheat rakes for faster evacuation.

The bagging operation, which is a prerequisite for the evacuation, has also reached a level of 25,600 tonnes in a single day, with round-the-clock work.
