While Reliance officials are tight lipped about the company's roll out plan in Kolkata, sources said that the company plans to build a network of over 100-150 Reliance Fresh stores in the city in the first phase due to be completed in 2010. The company has acquired or in the final stages of acquiring at least 50-60 properties for opening retail outlets in the city. While most of the properties acquired are of an average size of 2,000-5,000 sq ft and will serve as the neighbourhood kirana shop, according to sources, the company has also acquired a number of large sized properties of an average size of 20,000 sq ft. As per the company's business model, Reliance will own the properties and the stores will be run through franchise. It has so far rolled out 54 such stores mostly in Hyderabad, Chennai, Vijayawada, Guntur, Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad. According to sources, the company aims to build a network of roughly 1,000 Reliance Fresh stores across the country in 2007.
