More outlets in co-op sector

The State Government will open 4,000 retail outlets in the co-operative sector to vend essential items, vegetables and general provision at cheaper prices. This will help fight the price spiral to a great extent, according to the Registrar, Cooperatives. These retail outlets will be open for a two-month period starting February 15. The initiative will be formally launched in Thiruvananthapuram the same day. A high-level meeting presided over here by the Minister for Cooperation, Mr G. Sudhakaran, resolved that a war chest of Rs 100 crore be set up to help rollout the initiative. The Registrar, Cooperatives, and district-level officials of the department attended.
