Bangalore Feb. 11 Questions on space elevators, black holes, extraterrestrial life and the demoted Pluto were fired at space scientist and Member of Parliament, Dr K. Kasturirangan, in the city.

Addressing students from over 1,000 schools from Oracle Education Foundation's Think.com online community, Dr Kasturirangan said that the search for scientific talent and mentoring them is a major agenda for the country.

``The government is pumping money into various initiatives to encourage the best of brains to enter basic sciences. Science scholarships will be increased this year and infrastructure for research upgraded. We need a guild of science teachers and a central focus on identifying the right kind of youngsters," he said.
