SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTOR: A child appreciating roses at a flower garden in Thrissur, Kerala. Cut roses have contributed significantly to the country's floriculture development, as the rose-dominated Indian flower exports touched Rs 305 crore during last fiscal. The value of the domestic market last year stood at Rs 600 crore. Studies by the India Rose Society reveal that the country has replaced the Netherlands as the second largest supplier of cut flowers. The major buyers are Europe and Japan.
