Venture Capital Google invests in two early stage VC Funds Our Bureau
This investment is part of Google's investment strategy to seek out unique products, technologies and engineering teams that help provide innovative products to users or enhance existing services. The head of corporate development, South Asia, Google, Mr Samir Sood, in a statement said while the rush of large amounts of venture capital into India is well-documented, very little of this trickles down to the really small firms and the early start-ups. Google's goal is to close this gap by investing in early stage funds such as Erasmic and Seedfund, which identify, nurture and finance innovative start ups and help them grow. This early infusion of capital is seen to provide impetus for entrepreneurship in product engineering and hopefully result in innovations that benefit consumer, Internet and mobile services, he said.
