Coimbatore Feb. 14 Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd has accelerated the supply of spindles to the textile industry.

The company has admitted to achieving a milestone in recent times, when the supply of spindles crossed the 2 million-mark over a span of 12 months.

The company's production statistics reveal that it had supplied 0.8 million spindles between January and December 2004, 1.05 million during the corresponding period in 2005 and 2.2 million in 2006 to the textile market.

"The drive has been to facilitate the growth of the textile industry," its Chief Financial Officer, Mr Rajendran, told Business Line.

Having reached the 2.2 million mark, the company is striving to produce and supply 3.5 million spindles this (calendar) year. It plans to enhance its production by 20 to 25 per cent year-on-year.

According to Mr Rajendran, the supply enhancement has not had a visible impact on its delivery schedule at present.

"But this will definitely shrink future pending order list, although much would depend on the machinery configuration. The increased activity will reduce the delivery schedule, which now hovers around 18 months," he said.

The company has inducted additional manufacturing facilities (created infrastructure) to achieve this feat.

"Our 2007 goal (to install 3. 5 million spindles) is not an unrealistic target. It is well within striking distance," he said and pointed out that LMW, consequent to implementation of Oracle has had better control at all levels.

The company offers integrated spinning solutions from Blow Room to Ring Spinning. The company has so far installed over 23 million spindles worldwide.
