Gross bank credit increases by Rs 29,624 cr

Mumbai Feb. 17 Gross bank credit increased by Rs 29,624 crore to stand at Rs 17,96,115 crore for the fortnight ended February 2, according to Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This includes food credit which moved up by Rs 2,292 crore to touch Rs 43,503 crore and non-food credit, which rose by Rs 27,331 crore to Rs 17,52,612 crore.

Total accommodation (outstanding as on February 2) provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector through bank credit and investment in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper, was at Rs 18,31,564 crore.
